Our Story
About Seguin Assisted Living
Family-owned and operated since 2000, we have been a trusted part of the Seguin community for a quarter century. Our story is one of dedication, compassion, and a genuine love for the people we serve.
A Family Business,
A Community Home
Seguin Assisted Living was founded by Billy G. Belcher, his wife Norma, and their daughter Karen Taylor. Billy and Norma had spent 20 years owning and operating nursing homes across Seguin, Stockdale, Floresville, and Goliad. Karen, a dietitian, joined her father in the nursing home business after graduating from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University).
In 1998, Billy suggested the idea of assisted living to Karen. She attended the Assisted Living licensing class at Texas State University, received her ALF license, and began planning. Ground was broken in May 1999, and Seguin Assisted Living opened on April 4, 2000, with 30 apartments. By September 2002, an expansion added 20 more. In May 2005, Karen's daughter Lindsey Knight joined the family business upon her own graduation from Texas State University.
In July 2007, Karen and her husband Larry bought out Billy and Norma. Today, Karen Taylor serves as owner and administrator, and Lindsey Knight as assistant administrator — both licensed to manage assisted living facilities by the Center for Health Services Education and Research. As a family-owned and operated business, we are personally invested in the well-being of every resident.
